Jim Stewart

Jim Stewart is an influential American music executive and producer, best known as the co-founder of Stax Records, a pivotal label in the development of soul music. Born on July 29, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee, Stewart initially embarked on a career in the music industry as a country music producer. However, in 1957, he partnered with his sister Estelle Axton to establish Stax, which became synonymous with the southern soul sound. Under Stewart's leadership, Stax produced a series of notable works, including hits from iconic artists like Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, and Booker T. & the MG's.
